Social Transformation

Energy transition without leaving anyone behind.

Transparency, ethics, and cooperation are the pillars of the relationship between ENGIE and the communities in which it conducts its business. Conscious of its role, the company remains alert to the impacts caused by its activities. Based on a dialog with all stakeholders, it seeks to contribute effectively to a more just and sustainable development.

Impact Social Investment

ENGIE invests in social projects through the medium of its own resources and tax break mechanisms – such as laws for incentivizing sport, culture and the protection of children, adolescents and the elderly –, such that the tax take generated in each region is converted to the benefit of the communities themselves.

Among the leading criteria which the company assesses for giving support to developing socio-environmental projects, of particular importance are:

  • Execution of projects in the municipalities and regions contiguous to the operations and services;
  • Potential for cultural and socio-environmental impact (coverage, improvements in social reality, support for socially vulnerable groups);
  • Contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

International Support Fronts

In addition to direct support from ENGIE in Brazil, communities can rely on investments from two other institutions linked to the ENGIE Group worldwide: the ENGIE Foundation, Energy Assistance France, and Rassembleurs d’Energies.

ENGIE Foundation

With 30 years of commitment to solidarity and the environment, the ENGIE Foundation “believes that the energy required to drive the most useful, necessary and ambitious projects must be unleashed as a matter of urgency. This is the mission of the ENGIE Foundation, and also the vision shared by all ENGIE employees around the world. It acts on three main fronts: Infancy & Youth; Access to energy, biodiversity and climate; Employability & struggle against poverty.

Conditions for supporting social projects:

  • To be situated in a region where ENGIE conducts its operations and to serve the common good;
  • To have philanthropic value and economic and socio-environmental sustainability;
  • To have an effectively positive, long-term social and/or environmental impact;
  • To be presented by a promotional non-profit entity;
  • To respect the rules of the Foundation, which cover participation of other partners.
