Estreito HPP is located on the Tocantins River in the municipality of Estreito (MA). With a run-of-river reservoir of 555 km2, the plant went into operations on 2011. Its concession agreement, valid until 2037, is in the name of the Estreito Energia Consortium (CESTE), in which ENGIE has a majority stake of 40.07%.

The plant operates with eight generator units comprising vertical turbines of the Kaplan type, each with an output of 135.87 MW, totaling 1,087 MW of installed capacity. ENGIE’s share of the operation’s physical guarantee is 256.9 average MW for commercialization. The plant is certified according to ISO 9001 and 14001 quality management and environmental standards and the OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety standard.
