Jaguara Hydroelectric Power Plant

Located on the Grande River in the municipality of Rifaina (SP), Jaguara HPP has a run-of-river reservoir with an area of 34.6 km² and began operations in 1971. Together with Miranda HPP, it was incorporated into the ENGIE generator complex in 2017 following a successful bid at a Federal Government auction. The concession agreement runs until 2047 and represents an important advance for ENGIE in Brazil by expanding its operations in the Southeast Region of the country.

Jaguara HPP has an installed capacity of 424 MW, has four generator units with vertical turbines of the Francis type, each one with 106 MW of output. The plant’s physical guarantee for commercialization is 341 average MW. In 2018, the Company began operating the plant remotely from the Generation Operations Center (COG), located at ENGIE’s head office in Florianópolis (SC).
