Miranda Hydroelectric Power Plant

Miranda Hydroelectric Power Plant

Located on the Araguarí River in the municipality of Indianópolis (MG), Miranda HPP has a storage-based reservoir with an area of 50.61 km². Together with Jaguara HPP, it began operations in 1998 and was integrated into ENGIE’s generator complex in 2017 following a successful bid at a Federal Government auction.

The Miranda HPP concession agreement runs until 2047 and represents an important achievement for ENGIE in Brazil, expanding the Company’s operations in the Southeast Region of the country. It has an installed capacity of 408 MW, with three generator units, and vertical turbines of the Francis type, each with 136 MW of output and 198.2 average MW of physical guarantee for commercialization. In 2018, the Company began operating the plant remotely from the Generation Operations Center (COG), located at ENGIE’s head offices in Florianópolis (SC).
