Passo Fundo HPP, located on the Passo Fundo River in the municipality of Entre Rios do Sul (RS), has a storage-based reservoir with a total area of 151 km2. It went into commercial operations in 1973 and its concession agreement expires in 2028. The plant has two generator units with turbines of the Francis type, each with an output of 113 MW totaling 226 MW of installed capacity. Its physical guarantee for the purposes of commercialization is 113.1 average MW.

Following comprehensive modernization of the supervision and control system in 2002, the Company began operating Passo Fundo HPP remotely from the control room at Itá HPP. Between 2013 and 2015, its two generator units were totally modernized and in 2017, control of plant operations was transferred to the Generation Operations Center (COG), located at ENGIE’s head offices in Florianópolis (SC). The plant is certified according to ISO 9001 and 14001 quality management and environmental standards and the OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety standard.
