Located on the Iguaçu River in the municipality of Saudade do Iguaçu (PR), Salto Santiago HPP has been in operation since 1980 and its concession agreement is valid until 2028. Its reservoir is storage-based and has an area of 208 km². The plant has an installed capacity of 1,420 MW, with four generator units of 355 MW each, with vertical turbines of the Francis type, these being modernized between 2014 and 2017. The plant’s physical guarantee for commercialization is 733.3 average MW.

The Salto Santiago plant is certified according to ISO 9001 and 14001 quality management and environmental standards and the OHSAS 18001 occupational health and safety standard.
